A good night’s sleep is essential for you to be productive and refreshed for the following day. Luckily, getting a good sleep can be as simple as a few food changes before bed.

Here are five foods that can help you sleep better for a restful night.

Have a Handful of Almonds

Almonds are rich in minerals magnesium and tryptophan, which help to relax your muscles and your body. When your bodies magnesium levels are too low, it makes it harder for you to stay asleep.

Eat a Kiwi

Believe it or not, but kiwis contain a high amount of serotonin, the brains calming hormone which helps to improve sleep. When you are calm it is easier for your mind and body to relax, allowing you to drift off to sleep.

Have Fish For Dinner

Most fish, especially salmon and tuna include Vitamin D and B6 as well as omega-3 fatty acids, all of which create melatonin. Melatonin helps to regulateyour sleep and lets you know when it is time for bed.

Eat a Banana

Bananas are high in potassium and magnesium which are perfect minerals to relax overstressed muscles. Like almonds, bananas also contain tryptophan which help to create serotonin and melatonin.

Tart Cherries

High in melatonin, having a few cherries or even cherry juice before bed will help to regulate your body’s sleep cycle and sleep quality for a restful night sleep.
